Poetry is written because it gives permission to say things that would otherwise stay unsaid. Because some thoughts can only survive in a form that holds ambiguity and contradiction, where explanation would flatten them into something false. The precision of language is insufficient to connect people to feelings, because feelings are internal things, and precision only allows us to agree on things externally. You have to evoke the feeling in the same context it was experienced. That's the only way to actually share it with someone.

The poems here are expressions of things that have been felt. Connection and distance. Intimacy and the gaps where intimacy fails. Technology and what it does to a person. The strange experience of being human while that word means something different every year. Not all of them are about the same thing. There is no unified theory. Just poems.

This site is for engineers who have ever named a variable after someone, poets who know what a line break can carry, lovers who have measured distance in something other than miles, and anyone else who found their way here, even if you throw around neither words like enjambment nor idempotent. We are all capable of feeling, so give it a try.

Writers are invited to submit work for publication here. Send a bio and poems (everything in markdown) to mike@posthuman.help .

Welcome.
